Prospect
Hill Farm is a private dressage
training facility located in the heart of Alpharetta, Georgia's
horse country. Owned and operated by FEI rider and trainer Karen
McGoldrick, Prospect Hill Farm is a full-care and training
facility. Karen is a USDF-certified instructor and a USDF Bronze,
Silver, and Gold medalist.
The
main barn has six stalls, and we accept a limited number of horses
and riders for training. Trailer-ins are also welcome. Training
is based on the classical principles of the German training scale
and is geared towards young riders and adult amateurs.

Update
We’re already closing in on the mid-point of 2010. Exciting events are fast approaching. Karen and Wasabi are looking forward to
riding in a Hubertus Schmidt clinic in August, and after the clinic will be
jetting off to Germany
for a two week tutorial with Suzanne Miesner. The two week session will begin
by attending the world famous
Bundeschampionat. Young horses and
ponies from all the breed organizations will be competing head to head, with
judges immediately announcing their scores and comments after each ride. Karen is planning to post daily blogs on the
GDCTA page in Facebook, so follow her journey, Sept. 2-16th.
Suzanne heads up Classical Dressage Sales at
Wietelshof. In her program the
traditional German system is strictly adhered to in the training and
preparation of dressage horses. The
horses are not pushed beyond their appropriate age level, the training scale is
paramount, and the horses are even turned out!
Suzanne will have selected a horse for Karen to lease for the duration
of her visit for daily instruction.
In the meantime, some of you already know that Karen has
been writing a book about dressage. This
book has a special twist…it’s a novel! Writing a book is somewhat like
training a horse. It is a slow process, and a lot harder to do
than it looks. With a bit of discipline this project should
finish up a lot faster than getting Wasabi to Grand Prix. |
